How about the microorganisms in our life?

Microorganismos e a teoria do holobionte

Holobionts are complex assemblages of organisms consisting of diverse microbial genomes. It considers association between humans, animals, plants and microorganisms as an evolutionary unit that integrates genetic and metabolic relationships to better adapt to the environment and help maintain life on our planet.

Thus, microorganisms are such an essential element in the environment, that we can consider them as an integral part of ourselves.

As Deborah Leite said: “The holobionts theory brings a new understanding of each animal or plant”. It exposes that for the understanding of their individual features, we have also to consider the characteristics of the micro-organisms that live with them in association. We should consider the whole since the living organisms evolve together rather than independently.
